ABOUT
THE PROJECT
Poetry with music can be a powerful form of personal expression and self-discovery. It opens up a space for us to facilitate and engage in discussion. These discussions can lead to change by lifting awareness and motivations for action.
The song "Whose Womb" was created from the poem "Mind your Business," written by Pamella d'Pella. "Whose womb is this." It is not a question - but a statement. It is a chant throughout the song, a battle cry to unite, connect and amplify the voices of those who will be disproportionately affected by the United States Supreme Court's decision overturning "Roe v Wade."
Losing the freedom to have a safe and legal abortion leads to the loss of privacy and protection of bodily autonomy and the loss of confidentiality of personal health information. The song raises this question: "What's the real goal? You disclose my HIPAA now that you destroyed ROE?"
This is an immediate call to action.
A battle cry for any woman who knows that no one should have control over her body. Not the Government. Not the State legislature. Not a City Official. Not another person. No interference. No One. The choice is hers.
FEEL EMPOWERED. VALIDATED. UNDERSTOOD.
Take a listen to Whose Womb. Women’s reproductive rights continue to be a hot-button issue not only in the U.S. but all around the world.
All net proceeds from the recording of Whose Womb will be donated to WRRAP.
